Will Return next week...

So I've been a little absent from the bloggy, but my work overload this week has been insane.

I'll be back next week to catch up and pick up where I left off...

Until then... prayers needed for this little one.

Kadence, in her hospital gown

My precious baby niece, Kadence, has been admitted to the hospital for a bone infection. They're running tests on her today to see what they need to do to get this munchkin feeling better.
Poor baby, she's had to fight for her life since day one, but I'm just praying that she, and my brother and family will stay strong through this :(

Have a great weekend everyone!

The Hyatt's celebrate Vday & other randomness...

This year, I had the best Valentine's Day I've ever had with Shane. I know this holiday is super cheesy, but I'm such a sucker for it and any day where I have an excuse to eat chocolate sounds like a perfect day to me. Shane was off Valentine's Day so he offered to run my nasty car through the automatic car wash while I was at work, so that morning, I left for work in his car and he kept mine. Fast forward to that afternoon, I developed a TERRIBLE headache and by the time I left work, I had a full blown migraine. I was so upset, because even though Shane and I had planned for a low key evening, I didn't want to feel like complete crap. I called Shane almost in tears because I felt so bad. When I got home, I walked in to my migraine medicine laying on the counter next to a tall glass of water....sitting beside some amazing goodies. There was a card, a beautiful pocketbook that i'd been lusting over, perfume, and a huge box of chocolates. It was sooo sweet and I of course cried a little.

After thanking Shane for my gifts, I was ordered to go take a bubble bath and to relax in hopes of my migraine wearing off.... (which it did, thank goodness!) When I got finished with my bath, I walked in to the kitchen to find Shane finishing up cooking delicious steaks, baked potatoes, and salads. It was suchhhhh a yummy meal. And it was even better knowing that he had made it all and worked so hard on it. After dinner, he pulled out a made from scratch peanut butter pie.... OMG. I may have eaten my weight in dinner that night, but it was so worth it to have my hubby make me such a thoughtful and delicious meal. We settled in for the night to watch a movie On Demand and were both falling asleep by 10.But it was so perfect. It wasn't over the top, ooey gooey, and we didn't have to fight crowds at a nice restaurant and dinner was better in my opinion! Shane made me feel so special (even though he treats me like this all the time) Oh, and the gifts didn't end there. The next morning, when I got in my car... it was perfectly cleaned... inside and out. Such a sweet and thoughtful hubby.

In other news, this weekend Shane and I are going to NC. Saturday night, we are going out to dinner with his family to celebrate with his sister before she leaves for New Zealand to get married the end of this month. (they're getting married on Feb. 29th). I'm sure it's every guy's dream to get married on this day since they'll technically only have an anniversary every 4 years. I think it will pretty exciting for them to get married in New Zealand though, and we're having a "reception" for them in May. Needless to say, wedding season is about to begin!
---
Yesterday, I posted This Link on my Facebook wall. It was an article about Miranda Lambert tweeting about Chris Brown at the Grammy's. Her tweet was "...Chris Brown twice? I don't get it. He beat on a girl" and "Not cool that we act like that didn't happen. He needs to listen to Gunpowder and Lead and be put back in his place. Not at the Grammy's."
She's getting a lot of scrutiny for tweeting it... but I personally agree with her. Apparently there are a lot of people who are back and forth on this. Some say, that's his personal life and he makes good music, and others agree that he just needs to go away. My favorite is this article, Why We Hate Chris Brown, where it highlights all the terrible/crazy/stupid things he's done in the past few years. Personally, I agree with Miranda Lambert, he just isn't someone who needs to be idolized, in music or at all. Period.
---
I have an opportunity to do some freelance work for a local politician and I'm meeting with him about it this weekend. I'll post more about it after the meeting, but I am SO excited... this is a huge opportunity!!!
---
I've found myself on Pinterest looking at a lot ideas for babies, nurseries, and kid things. Does this mean I want to have kids anytime soon? God willing, no. But i'm a planner, and so I've found myself looking at the things out of curiosity and just random ideas. I'm sure some of my followers on Pinterest (that know me) are probably wondering if I have some news to announce, but it's not like that, I'm just curious..plus baby nurseries look fun to decorate. Ok now I just sound weird... hah. just being honest.
---
I have been listening to Pandora a lot at work to get me through some of the long days, and this song came on Pandora and it totally took me back to high school. I'm not a huge Keith Urban fan, but I fell in love with this song and Shane made me a CD with it on there... I'm not kidding when I say I wore that CD out...

Happy Thursday!!!!

Weekend recap

I had a great/relaxing weekend with my precious hubby. Friday night, we had a date night out and it was amazing. We haven't been out (just the two of us) since before he was in the hospital, so it was so much fun being lovey dovey with Shane and catching up. We went to an early dinner followed by a trip to the movies to see The Vow. I was SO excited to see this movie, but I have to admit, it let me down. The acting just wasn't that good (regardless of how hott Channing Tatum may be, he has no talent) and it wasn't nearly as romantic as I thought it should be. I know it was based on a true story, but I was still expecting to shed a few tears. The movie theater was packed, but it sounded like a lot of people felt the same way we did at the end of the movie, a little dissapointed. Oh well, I still am glad we went! :)

Saturday, Shane had to work, so I spent the whole day cleaning, napping, and catching up on things around the house. I've let a lot of my projects and crafts slip this past month and I noticed a lot of things I wanted to improve/work on around our house... so stay tuned these next few months, my Pinterest inspired projects will be in full swing.
After Shane got off work, we cruised down to Florence to spend the night with my brother and the twins (since my sis-in-law who is a nurse works nights on the weekends). We helped him feed and give them baths and just had a great time cuddling with the babies. I am still amazed by how he or Nicole can manage those babies when they are alone. The girls really know how to "tag team" when fussing and even with me and Shane there, all three of us stayed busy during feeding and changing times. All in all, we had such a great time and the girls have gotten so big. I managed to snap a few pics, but they weren't that good. They're in their squirming age so trying to snap a pic on a phone is next to impossible. It's hard to believe they're 6 months old today!

Shane and Kadence (they both had just woken up!)

Sunday, Shane and I returned home and cuddled on the couch to finish the series of Friday Night Lights. We started this series right around the Christmas holidays (5 seasons) and we just finished them all. Yes, we're tv junkies, but in our defense, we had a lot of lazy days where we knocked out a ton of episodes while Shane was home recovering with the trach (so no judgement)
Anyone who is looking to get in to a good TV show/series, I highly reccomend this series. It's on Netflix, and it's just such a good show. The first two seasons were the best ( I believe they switched writers and networks) but it's still awesome all the way to the very end.

Last night, we finished up our laid back weekend by watching the Grammy's. All in all, I thought it was pretty good, and I loved some of the performances, but I was amazed by the number of people who seemed ot be lip singing.... it's the Grammy's for crying out loud. And some of the outfits were very interesting. What did you all think of the award winners, performances, and outfits? I was loving reading the comments and reviews on Twitter last night...

That about sums it up for my weekend... All in all it was very laid back but we enjoyed it....
Now back to the daily grind. Happy Monday!!!

TGIF Randoms

It's Fri-YAY! Not sure about y'all, but i'm glad to see this week behind me.

I really have no structure to this post, but here's some random happenings in the life of yours truly right now...
---
I am beyond excited that The Vow is now in movie theaters. And my awesome hubby is taking me to see it. I hope it's as good as it looks in the trailer... either way, it should be a good sappy love story.

I saw this floating around on Pinterest and I can't help but giggle everytime I see it
---
I have done horrible sticking to my WW diet this week. I think I was good for all of like 2 meals this week and I've completely blown the rest. I pray I haven't gained any weight and that this won't be too much of a set back. I really need to get back in the swing of things next week.... complete with working out. I haven't worked out in weeks. ugh.
 ---
I made a quick trip to Florence last night to see my fabulous cousin and get my hair done. I got a body wave (aka, a cooler term for a Perm.) My hair has always had a lot of wave, but lately, it doesn't hold curl and I'm all about the shower, scrunch, and go method a lot of mornings, so I was missing the curl in my hair. It looks a lot like my hair did before when it was curly, wavy, it just takes a lot less effort now. I love it! Shane loved it too, although in case you've never had/been around someone with a perm, it smells like crap for a few days. woops

wavy hair
 ---
Shane and I are going back to Florence Saturday night to help my brother with the twins. My sister in law is back at work, so weekends are pretty hectic around their house and Shane and I have been dying to see the babies anyways... it's been since Christmas. Prepare yourselves for a "Crazy Aunt Olivia" post next week with pictures. I love those little girls. Although, not going to lie... I think it will be interesting to be around them all day and night for once. I hear they like to cry and need their diapers changed and all that jazz. hmm.
---
My Spring calendar is filling up pretty quickly. I was going through my day planner, and it looks like we'll have a busy Spring with friends. Events I'm looking forward to in the next few months:
Carolina Cup | St. Pats Festival | Zac Brown Band and other concerts i'll be working at the arena here in town. YAY, it's almost concert season! |Bridesmaid dress shopping with my beautiful bride friend, Lyn | Bridal Showers | Weddings in April, May, and June | A possible trip to NYC to visit my bestie, MH. (I'm still trying to work around a weekend that fits in my schedule, but I'm so looking forward to a quick trip.)
 ---
I have no earthly idea what to get Shane for Valentine's Day. I'm the world's worst wife, but I seriously have no clue. I've been spoiling him a lot lately since I'm just so happy he's feeling better and I usually just buy things for him throughout the year if I see something he likes. (I just bought him to Polo's last weekend...dangit I should have saved those!) But I really have no clue, and he hasn't hinted or told me anything. I'm really going to have to rack my brain for this one. I'm open to suggestions!!!!

I think that's about it today for my randomness.
Have a great weekend!!!!

Our Love Story

Today, i'm doing a little bit "different" of a link-up than my usual WILW.
I was doing my morning blog stalking, er, reading, and loved the Link-Up one of my favorite blogs, Blue Eyed Bride did with From Mrs. to Mama.

In the spirit of Valentines Day, and boy am I a sucker for the month of LOVE :), I thought i'd post mine and Shane's very own love story. Some of you may already know about our relationship, but I'd love to share it anyways... I mean, I may be biased here, but I think it's a fairy tale.

So I'm linking up with this new blog to bring you OUR love story... here goes.

1. How long have you and your significant other been together?
We started dating in September of 2004. We've been together almost 7 1/2 years now.

2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?}
Shane and I met when I was a freshman and he was a senior at Andrew Jackson High School. We sat together with a group of friends during lunch every day and we seemed to get along great. After Shane graduated and began attending USCL, we continued to hang out and he finally built up the nerve to tell me how much he really liked me. I of course, was thrilled :) After a few months of talking and convincing our parents that we could handle the age gap between us (4 years is a big deal when you're in high school), we began dating and have pretty much been inseparable since. We both went to the same college, (University of South Carolina) and Shane got a job in Columbia after he graduated. (we still live in Columbia to this day)

 3. If married, how long have you been married?
We just got married on August 27th, 2011. Hard to believe that we've been married half a year, time really has gone by SO fast.

4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding?
We had around a mid-sized wedding (about 130 guests.) in Florence, SC. Florence is my family's hometown and we got married in my Grandma and Grandpa's church. They were married for over 50 years and that church is "home" to our family so it was a pretty sentimental place to get married.
Our reception was held at Osbornes, Inc, a special occasion venue in Florence.

5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share!
Anyone who ever has been around me and Shane for more than 10 minutes, knows i'm notorious for putting about 20 extra syllables in Shane's name. Shane becomes "SHAAAAAAANEEEEE" regardless if i'm trying to get his attention, yelling, crying, or just being needy about something. But no, we really don't have any nicknames for each other. It is pretty fun getting to refer to each other as "hubby & wifey" though.

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
Shane is the most level headed, patient, and calmest person I know. I love those qualities about him because I am the complete opposite. He is the only person that can calm me down, and when he tells me "everything is ok" I truly believe it. I tend to over exaggerate or can be a drama queen at times, but he knows exactly how to deal with me and can bring me off my ledge when I get super stressed out.

7. Tell us how he proposed?
Shane was living in Florida for the first 8 months of 2010, so our time together was limited but so special. Because of both of our busy schedules, we had to plan our visits to each other pretty far in advance. Shane planned to come up the end of April for a long weekend, which was right when I had finished classes and was preparing for exams. My mom had also been in the hospital, so needless to say, I was distracted that week. That Monday was our last full day together before Shane had to drive back to Florida on Tuesday. Shane and I spent the morning in Lancaster visiting my Mom, then we headed back to Columbia for our last night together. When we got back to Columbia, Shane suggested that we go out to a nice long dinner. It was obvious both of us wanted to slow down the time before he had to return to Florida. After dinner, we got back to my apartment, and Shane turned to me and said let's go for a walk. I don't know why, but I said yes (I don't really go for walks) But, It was SO pretty outside. The sun was setting, the weather was perfect, and I figured we could spend some more alone time together. So we started on our walk outside, when Shane starting talking about what a great weekend he'd had with me. He told me that being with me made him realize that he never wanted to spend another day without me and he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. After he said this, he stopped walking. He grabbed my hand and said "And I don't just want to be your boyfriend anymore." And then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. After that it was all a blur. I'm pretty sure I screamed, cried, and said YES a million times somewhere between all of that.

Celebrating at my apartment right after Shane proposed
 8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberries, champagne, and rose petals?
He's a little bit of both. He has been known to surprise me with flowers, AND i've come home to wine and romantic dinners before. We've been together for so long, I feel like he knows me and knows the kind of mood I'm in. He's pretty good at figuring out what I want and surprising me with it (it only takes me emailing him links every once in a while) hah!

9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
I love a romantic dinner but we have such crazy busy schedules that relaxing nights are also perfect... I guess i'd have to say i'm a little bit of both.

10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?
I definitely want to travel more with Shane. Neither of us have traveled too terribly much and that's one thing we'd love to accomplish before we decide to have children. We want to travel while we still can enjoy the time to ourselves.

We went to Vegas with my family for my 21st birthday
Clearwater, Florida

On our honeymoon in Montego Bay, Jamaica
11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine's Day.
We've been discussing where we want to go to dinner, but we've definitely made plans to go see The Vow... i'm a sucker for romantic movies and Shane has agreed to take me!
12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's day?
I've given Shane a few hints to things i'd like, but this is one holiday where I usually let him just go with it without too many suggestions. I do love some chocolate though, so I hope that's somewhere in the mix.
13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
Find what works for YOU. Every relationship is different. Shane and I have grown up together and neither of us have been in that many other relationships outside of our own, but we're OK with that. We want to spend the rest of our lives just loving each other. I have never met another relationship like ours and we've faced a lot of jealousy/resentment from friends in the past because they want what we have or don't understand it. We just love each other unconditionally and everything else falls in to place. I truly believe that when you're with the one you're meant to be with, it just works. Just don't try and compare what you have to what someone else has, and you'll appreciate your relationship a lot more.

14.  Show us a picture of what love means to you.
This picture was taken the very beginning of 2010. It marks what seemed like the longest few months of my life. It was the day Shane moved to Florida for a job promotion. We were still just dating at the time, and I was still in school. I would be lying if I didn't say it was hard, but gah if it didn't prove that our love could withstand anything. Being away from each other that much made us realize that we never wanted to be away from each other again (hence, why Shane proposed months after he moved to Florida.) Shane was finally able to get transferred back to Columbia in September of that year. Although it was hard, it strengthened our relationship more than I could ever explain.

My new WW obsession

So I, without a doubt, CHEATED bigtime on my Weight Watchers diet this past Sunday for the superbowl.
But I am bound and determined not to let it get me down for the rest of the week and I'm trying to be extremely good!

Here is my current obsession that is sooo WW friendly....

Subway's Broccoli Cheese Soup.

Y'all. OMG.

I had it a few weeks back, expecting to have blown my WW points for the day, so I looked up the nutritional content on Subway's website.
This entire cup of soup was only FIVE POINTS!

See for yourself.

And you bet your money, I ran my happy butt to get a cup of this soup with a Veggie Delight salad for lunch today. Total WW points+ value for my entire lunch: 8 points. I could have this soup for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's so good, creamy, and filling that this will definitely be a lunch time regular for me.

Now, to go work off the 9 billion points I had on Superbowl Sunday.

It's WILW!

I'm linking up today with Jamie again for

I'm LOVING that it's finally February!
I have never been so happy to see a month go.
And Shane and I are back to feeling pretty normal.

I'm LOVING that my awesome hubby returned back to work yesterday and on his first day back after being gone 3 straight weeks, he got a raise! That's the definition of awesome in my book. Now, maybe I can buy some of those things off my Wish List I blogged about yesterday... hmm? :)

I'm LOVING that this weekend, we will no longer be under house arrest! My favorite cousin and her boyfriend are coming to town Friday night, and we're fully planning to hit the town with some drinks in hand. It's been a month since Shane and I have had any drinks so we'll probably be some pretty cheap dates Friday night. And for Super Bowl Sunday, we're making a quick trip down to Charleston to see the BFF and watch the game. I guess since she and her boyfriend are from Boston, we'll be Patriots fans this Sunday. I'm just super excited to eat good food and hang out with good friends!

I'm actually LOVING my temporary new work schedule. For the past week, i've been getting up at 5/6 am and going in to work early due to some server failures at our corporate office. It's been so hard getting up, but i'm surprisingly productive when I do.
And I LOVE getting off early on those days. Yesterday, I was able to get off at 3 and I got to treat myself to a mani.... I'm just loving this color too!

I'm also LOVING how well my cute twin nieces are doing. I see daily pictures of them from either my sis-in-law sending me pics or posting them on Facebook. I just had to share these pictures she posted yesterday of them in their new outfits. They're so precious and I can't wait to make a visit to see them again soon!

Finally, I'm LOVING this new recipe that I just have to share. I was doing my normal routine of grocery shopping at Publix, when one of the workers was making this dish at their station. I tasted it and right away, knew I HAD to buy all of the ingredients and make it. I've made it twice in the past couple of weeks, and it's extremely Weight Watcher friendly.

Athenian Tilapia
(makes 4 servings)

4 fresh tilapia filets
1 can artichoke hearts (drained)
1 can diced tomatoes (drained)
1/3 cup white wine
Greek Seasoning (I bought this at Publix, but my dad made it with Italian Seasoning and said it was great too)
1 Tbsp minced garlic
Diced white onion (I just chopped up about a handful)
Olive Oil

Saute onion and garlic in olive oil and let sweat. Add artichoke hearts, tomatoes, and white wine. Lay tilapia filets on top of mixture and cover in greek seasoning. Cover with a lid and let simmer 10-15 minutes.

SO EASY and I promise it's amazing. I served it with brown rice and cucumbers drizzled in red vinegar and tossed with a little bit of feta cheese.
Whole dish is about 9 WW points (including the rice, 4 w/o rice) per serving.
